![]() With the amount you have invested in your equipment, you'll have high expectations when you're out there working. It appears the astronomy/astrophotography world is connected mostly to the PC. He has had much success (like many others here on Mac). ![]() ![]() My close friend uses a Mac (similar in age and spec as mine) while running bootcamp/windows (which is something I never did). Not to knock the Mac world, I still own mine and love it. Nebulosity support was good too, but I've since abandoned that software now that I have PixInsight (I may permanently uninstall Nebulosity - TBD).īut I will say this, having recently been on both sides of the fence. Note: I could never get my ASI cameras to work with Nebulosity (even with the work-arounds). Neboulosity was never perfect though, and it would occasionally disconnect and lock up my DSLR or lose connection with the camera (even with the sleep function off). I had previously used Nebulosity on the Mac and PC for imaging, and it worked well for my DSLR (Canon 7Dii). When I made the switch to the Dell (mainly for faster processing, more connectivity, guiding and automation), I struggled early on with imaging. Their imaging software is superb! Easy to use, and not at all expensive. Long term I'm planning on getting a dedicated PC for this hobby and have my eye on Eagle 2, but since I just dropped $9K on building my kit of the past few month I'm hesitant to spend another $1,500 on a that unit and want to see if I can learn using my Mac and get by with what I have.Ĭheck out their forum, you'll see several of my Mac issues/questions there (regarding mount connectivity via unrecognizable USB drivers and imaging software settings). Looks like the only option is to resort to their forum, so we'll see how well it's monitored. I read though the whole manual (starter doc) and still have a ton of unanswered questions. I left my Mac for many reasons (and bought a Dell Auction PC), but none of them were related to Cloud Makers my Mac was older and slow, only had 2 USB ports, and I wanted to get SGP up and running (I could never get PHD2 to guide properly on my Mac either). They publish a manual too, rather lengthy, but I printed it double-sided and put it in my binder (when I was using my Mac). I never tried their guider program (I have always used PHD2 and now SGP) but want to say that their support is phenomenal. I ran a Mac OS for a month and never had any trouble with AstroDSLR or AstroImager (both performed flawlessly for imaging). I'd love to pick someone's brain about the best way to setup AstroGuider in particular. ![]() Everything is connected and seems to be functioning, though the documentation (aside for a basic starter guide) appears to be nonexistent and goodgling/youtubing yields no results.Ĭan anyone share videos, tutorials, documentation on any of their software? As a Mac user, my options are limited, and so I started to explore the CloudMakers software suite for acquisition and guiding. Perfect for imaging with your DSLR camera.I finally got all the pieces of my setup in the mail and started putting things together for the very first time last night.
